๐Ÿ“‹ Worklogs

Understanding Worklogsโ€‹

Chronos is built around a simple idea:
Every piece of work on a Trello card should be clear, measurable, and reviewable.
Worklogs are the foundation of that.

What is a Worklog?โ€‹

A worklog is a record of time spent on a specific Trello card.

Each worklog includes:

  • โฐ Start time โ€“ when the work began
  • โฑ๏ธ End time / Duration โ€“ how long it took
  • ๐Ÿ‘ค Author โ€“ who did the work
  • ๐Ÿ“ Optional note โ€“ what was done
  • ๐Ÿ’ต Billable flag โ€“ whether the time is billable to a client

Think of it as a structured timeline of activity on the card.

๐Ÿ’ก Why Worklogs Matterโ€‹

  • They show who did what and for how long
  • Help teams understand progress, delays, and bottlenecks
  • Allow managers to review, export, and report on actual work
  • Make time-tracking accurate without relying on memory

Chronos uses worklogs to build reports, calculate totals, and show live activity.

How Worklogs Are Createdโ€‹

Chronos provides two ways to create worklogs:

1. โšก Automatic โ€” using the "Start Timer" buttonโ€‹

When you click Start Timer on a card:

  • A timer starts under your name
  • When you stop it, a worklog is created automatically
  • No need to type anything unless you want to add a note

2. โœ๏ธ Manual โ€” adding a worklog by handโ€‹

If you worked offline or forgot to start the timer:

  • Open the card
  • Add a worklog manually
  • Set date, start time, duration, and an optional description

Either way, the worklog form includes a Billable checkbox so you can mark whether the time is billable. New worklogs start from the board default, and you can change the flag any time. See Invoicing โ†’ Billable time.

๐Ÿ“ Where Worklogs Appearโ€‹

On the Cardโ€‹

In the Chronos panel inside a Trello card, you can:

  • View all worklogs
  • ๏ธ Edit or delete your own logs
  • See who is currently working (active timers)

In Reportsโ€‹

The Report window shows:

  • ๏ธ Total time spent
  • Worklogs grouped by card, user, or date
  • Filters (user, board, date range, labels, lists, etc.)
  • Export options (CSV, XLSX)

Reports pull directly from worklogs.

In the Chronos Board Barโ€‹

The Board Bar dashboard surfaces the same underlying worklogs.
